I was introduced to Reiki, the Usui System of Natural Healing, in 1984. I was intrigued. The energy certainly felt healing. The treatment technique seemed simple, and the effects were certainly real. I signed up for a first level training in April 1985.

The class turned out to be one of the most profound experiences of my life. This energy was the most comforting thing I had ever felt. I remember thinking that I really couldn't do anything better with my life than to share this with other people - that anyone could feel such peace, such comfort, and love, even, at the simple touch of a hand. I began practicing Reiki immediately, on myself and others; and began training as a teaching Master in August that same year. After a three year apprenticeship, I was initiated as a traditional teaching Master in the Usui System of Natural Healing by Linda Keiser Mardis in April, 1988.

Since then I have practiced and taught Reiki almost all the way around the world. (I'm missing about a thousand miles between Indonesia and Nepal, having traveled east on one trip and west on another.) I was elected to the Leaders Council - the governing Board of The Reiki Alliance, an international organization of Usui System Masters - in 1992 and served three years in this capacity. I was one of the founders and continue to be a Board member of the North East Reiki Gathering, serving the larger Reiki community since 1991.

As I say in my classes, "If I ever find anything better easier, simpler or more effective than Reiki I will personally write you all a letter and tell you what it is. In the meantime, Reiki is the best natural healing method I have ever found. It addresses the body/mind/spirit entity, completely supporting the body's innate ability to heal itself. There is no dogma, nothing to memorize, nothing to believe or have faith in - you simply do it and it works. Your own experience is your proof. The only requirements are a willingness to learn and a desire to practice (especially on yourself - we begin here) this natural healing art."

This book is a practical and useful guide for any level Reiki practitioner.
It covers: treatment on self and for others beginning with the physical - a basic overview of the anatomy, physiology, and interrelated functions of the body's organs and glands; and moving into the metaphysical - explorations of how energy works through the physical systems to bring balance, and healing,to the body. There is enough information to keep your left brain happy while your right brain enjoys the stories of something we all are capable of - healing ourselves and each other - especially through the practice of Reiki.

Love and Blessings -
